Everything is still messy from just pulling things out from the winter. But here is the space.

So we have this awesome deck that gets full sunlight ALL SUMMER LONG. And don't get me wrong, I love it, but sometimes that sun can be brutal. I've been dreaming and thinking and plotting how to solve our problem. The shade tents you can buy at Lowe's and Home Depot don't seem like long-term solutions to me. We've lost a few of them over the years to wind storms anyway and didn't really want to make another $300 disposable investment. Enter the PERGOLA. I have been pinning away, scheming, and plotting how to make this thing happen. I feel like it seems simple but know that any project we tackle is never as simple as my brains has made it seem. So I did what any genius would do...I asked for it for Mother's Day! What better gift than this?? My husband felt confident he could build it with some help from friends so here ya go! Mother's Day present in progress:

The inspiration from Pinterest. Looks simple, right?? 😂

Here's the hubs "supervising" and his awesome friends who sacrificed their Friday evening.

My peek through the window this morning! Weeeee!!

It's supposed to rain for the next 10 days so I'll update with progress as we get further. In the meantime I'm pinning away ideas for curtain rods and other sun blocking ideas. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE!!!

UPDATE: They were able to get the first set of slats up and some

supports this weekend. It’s only 90% done but I of course immediately moved in.

UPDATE! ALL DONE!!
